May 27, 2025 update from Patricia Hayes, District 3 Coordinator
We have learned that Bocce, Cycling and Swimming do NOT require qualifiers. Anyone interested in competing at the Provincial level will only have to register between June 22 to July 7 to be included. Membership in OSGA is a requirement. As well, there are participation fees payable to the City in order to participate. Check website 55summergames.greatersudbury for information on registering.

Cribbage: at the Parkside Older Adult Centre, 140 Durham Street, Sudbury P3E 3M7 today at 1PM Cribb
Prediction Walking/Nordic Walking June 7 @ 10 Am under convener Joanne Pendrak-Flesher is being held Laurentian University.
Floor Shuffleboard: Convenor Don Moule is coordinating this event at Naughton Senior Centre. Event scheduled for June 4th pending confirmation from the Centre. Registration will be available shortly.
Pickleball: Co-convenors Philip Candelaria and Jim Fuchs are presenting this event at a Sudbury location (TBA) on June 14, 15. Times and location to be advised. Registration online is open. Activity fee and court fees, if applicable will be payable by e-transfer after June 1.
Billiards Qualifier - Convenor, Jeff Vaillancourt at the Rhythym 'n Cues in Sudbury, text or phone 705-690-5117. Womens Singles on May 31, 1pm to 5pm; Men's Singles on June 14, 1 pm to 5pm. Men's Divison is now full. Womens has openings still. Convenor is accepting fee payments.
Tennis Qualifier - Convenor, Neil Lind, at the Sudbury Indoor Tennis Centre on May 28,29, 30th. contact [email protected]. The Tennis center will handle registration and fee payment through their COURT RESERVE SYSTEM under event name; OSGA 55+ - 65+. Participants limited to 2 events.
Golf Qualifier : Convenor, Ken Ellis. Qualifying tournament will be held May 31 9:30 to 2 at Cedar Green Golf course. Event registration is now open online. See flyer on this page for full info. What a great day we had!
Twenty two seniors 55+, the eldest 82 and the youngest 55, gathered at the Chatelanes Bowling Alley in Sturgeon Falls on Saturday, May 24th. Their goal - to win a coveted spot in the Provincial Games being held Aug. 5 - 7 in Sudbury. There were lots of laugh, cheers, and a few sighs when the pins didn't fall, but a good time was had by all. In the end the team comprised of Gary Miron, Debbie Proulx, Ray Commanda, Ross McLeod and Gerry Begin won the GOLD.
SILVER Team was Betty-Anne Rutldge, Shawn Hodgins, Laurent Lapensee, Mark Thompson and Bertrand Bizier. Men 55+ GOLD was Dave Gardiner; 65+ GOLD Lawrence Lariviere, SILVER Michael Thompson, 75+ GOLD Claude Malette. Ladies 55+ GOLD Sandy Bouchard, 65+ GOLD Katherine Roy, SILVER Melinda Konig. Congratulations all!
Co-Convenors for the day were Carole Roussel and Bertrand Bizier, with the assistance of Melanie Paquette as referee. This was the first event of a number of qualifiers in different activities being held in the coming weeks. We are off to a good start and we thank all the participants for their enthusiasm. And a special nod to Chatelanes Bowling who were our gracious host.
Our Dart Qualifiers
The second event in our District 3 qualifiers was held at the Moose Lodge, Sudbury. Sunday, May 25th. The team of Bill McEwan and Jim Levac took the Gold. Bob Fraser & Bruce Good took home Silver. According to the Sudbury Games Committee, both gold and silver winners in Darts will advance to the Summer Games in August. Sudbury will be well represented by these gentlemen who sounded like they were ready for the challenge. Chris Peters was the Convenor for the event.

WHO CAN PLAY IN AUGUST?
Participant Eligibility
1. To be eligible to participate in OSGA 55+ events you must be a resident of Ontario, a current member of the organization (April 1st to March 31st) and must be of age (55+, 65+, 75+, etc.) or older by midnight December 31st in the year of competition.
2. Participants must limit their competition to one District (based on their residency called their “Home District”) for each set of Games (summer or winter) with the exception is participants may register in a District that borders your “Home District” to play with a partner/team and/or event(s) availability. Districts accepting participants from outside their District must confirm with the participants “Home District” they are eligible.
3. Participants may only represent the District in which they participated in and qualified for to compete at the Regional and/or Ontario 55+ Games with priority to be given to the winners of your District Games in order of how they finish based on their desire to move on to the next level.
4. Participants may enter more than one event/category at the District level at the discretion of the District Committee.

GOLF QUALIFIER
HOW TO REGISTER FOR AN EVENT
To enter a DISTRICT QUALIFIER here are the steps:
Log in to osga55plus.ca
Once there, if you have not joined OSGA for 2025-26, you must do so before proceeding.
Once a member, you may then log in to your account to complete event registration.
Press SELECT PAGE for the pull down menu and look for the buttons that says “login”. Select that option.
At the Login screen enter your user name (it is your email address) and the password you previously created when you joined. If you forgot either user name or password you will have to reset it before proceeding.
One you have successfully logged in, you will see the HOME PAGE as the first open tab, and the District HOME PAGE is displayed. In the Tabs, select CALENDAR.
Scroll thru the calendar and find the event in which you wish to register. It should appear in red in the date block. Click on that event in the calendar. You will see information about the event and a map of the venue. Just below the map is the REGISTER NOW button. Click on that button, you will be shown an information page. Verify the details: that you have the correct event, are available, and meet any other requirements. When you are satisfied, then click REGISTER NOW again
You will be brought to a page that displays your first and last name and a name that may be used at another time to print badges. Badge printing is not currently in use for District 3. Press CONTINUE button. At this time click PROCEED TO CONFIRMATION.
You are then requested one more time to verify and confirm the information. Click on CONFIRM SELECTIONS.
Your final step, PLEASE PRINT THE DISPLAYED REGISTRATION PAGE AS A CONFIRMATION OF YOUR REGISTRATION IN YOUR CHOSEN EVENT.

We are thrilled to announce that the City of Greater Sudbury has been chosen to host the Ontario Senior Games Association 55+ Provincial Summer Games! From August 5 to August 7, 2025, our City will welcome over 1000 athletes from across the Province, competing in a celebration of skill, spirit, and sportsmanship.
As the proud Host District, we want these Games to be unforgettable—full of energy, camaraderie, and excitement. To make this happen, we need your help!
Join Us in Rejuvenating Our District! We’re actively seeking volunteers to join our District Committee. This is your chance to: Support and promote active living for adults 55+ Help create an event that will leave a lasting impression on participants and visitors alike Be part of a vibrant team dedicated to making these Games a huge success
